New year, new blog

Happy New Year!

I realize I’m two weeks late, but creating this blog was one of my resolutions for 2013. Despite many resolutions that fall through, I actually try to keep mine.

Last year, my resolution was to not have any hospital visits. For anyone who knows what I went through in 2011 with time spent in three different hospitals, keeping that resolution was quite an accomplishment.

This year,  I’m trying to do those things I always have good intentions to do, but usually fail to follow through—blogging and reading books. In college, I always made the excuse that I was too busy to read the ever-growing pile of books or to write on my blog on a regular basis. But now that I’ve graduated and I’m working full-time, I’ve decided it’s time to stop making excuses.

The quote I previously published says it all—”You can’t sit around and wait to be inspired.”

The teacher who said that to me also told me to write everyday and while I am ambitious, I’m also realistic.

So, in 2013, it’s my goal to blog once every week. I’ve created a new blog, and I’m excited to get started. I’m going to write about a variety of topics because I don’t want to limit myself. As many people know, I lost my left hand almost four years ago and living with one hand makes for some interesting stories, which I focused on in my previous blog. I’ll still write about that, in addition to what it’s like to live in Kentucky as a Hoosier fan, my experiences with my first full-time professional journalism job, traveling, interesting topics in the news or whatever might be worth sharing.

It’ll be just like the tagline at the top of my page—A little bit of everything.
