One small paper cut, one big problem

Paper cuts—tiny silvers in your skin that hardly cause any damage.

Unless it’s on one of your five fingers.

Five fingers are usually enough to do just about anything, believe it or not. But when one of those precious fingers gets a deep paper cut, you quickly realize four fingers just won’t work.

I never realized how much I use my middle finger for typing and all other frequent daily tasks until two days ago when I was cleaning off my desk and slid it against a piece of paper the wrong way.

When I had 10 fingers, I don’t remember ever having trouble after getting a paper cut. Now that I’m at five, I’ve had to spend the last couple days concentrating on not using it.

I haven’t done so well. I’ve said “ouch” out loud multiple times just typing this post.

What did I learn? Middle fingers are pretty valuable, and it wouldn’t hurt to try and be more careful with my remaining hand and fingers.
